Jennie Becker

Jennie graduated with a B.A. in Theater/Dance and Biology from Luther College in 2010. While at Luther she was able to intensely study contact improvisation with Jane Hawley and Amanda Hamp. After graduation Jennie relocated to Chicago to explore her passion in dance. In Chicago she had been fortunate to work with Kyle Vincent Terry’s dance/theater company TheMassive, Kathryn Burrow’s Narrative Dance Company The Monocle Eclectic and Chloe Jensen’s company Aerial Dance Chicago. After moving back to the Twin Cities Jennie had had the opportunity dance with the local modern dance company Alternative Motion Project (AMP). Jennie trained for many years in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, musical theater and pointe in the Twin Cities. Through her training she learned to have a love for all dance styles and furthered her training in ballroom, latin and swing dancing. Jennie is very excited to be able to teach and inspire the dancers who share a passion in such an amazing art form!

I found Baton Twirling at 6 years old. I was such a shy and timid little girl until I found Baton Twirling and Jacinda. It has shaped me to become the person I am today. I have been given opportunities to perform at a variety of sporting events and community events as well as competed at the National level with my team for 9 years. I was also given the opportunity to become a Feature Twirler at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I have a B.A in Elementary Education and am currently a 2nd Grade teacher in ISD 196. I currently coach our Beginning Baton classes as well as our National Teams. My favorite part is to watch the excitement and passion grow for baton twirling with all our twirlers. It is so rewarding to share a passion of mine with someone else! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my Fiance and family. We enjoy spending time outside, working out and camping!

Dance has always been my passion. I started dancing at the age of 2 and fell in love. When I was old enough I began competing and started assisting classes. I just couldn’t get enough dancing! I have continued my training with yearly conventions, workshops and master classes since I was a teenager. I began my teaching career at age 16 and have enjoyed teaching dancers of all ages since. In elementary school I wanted to do something other than just dance but I loved dance and wanted to find something that complimented that, I found Baton Twirling!
I started twirling baton when I was seven years old. I went on to join a competitive baton team that I continued twirling with until I became certified as an NBTA International Judge. During my time as a twirler I attended the national competition held at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana and won many state and national titles both individually and with my team!
When not dancing or twirling, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our families. We like to travel and spend time "up north".
